VBCPS Class of 2018 offered a record
$104.7 million in scholarships

Graduating seniors in Virginia Beach City Public Schools' (VBCPS) Class of 2018 have earned and accepted the highest scholarship amounts of any VBCPS graduating class. As reported to high school guidance offices, seniors have been offered a record $104,784,639 in scholarships and have accepted $63,910,257* to date. Scholarships granted by in-state and out-of-state institutions to students from all 11 VBCPS comprehensive high schools and Green Run Collegiate are represented in the totals.

Class of 2018 scholarship totals exceed the amount offered to last year's graduating class by $17.2 million and the amount accepted by $5.8 million. The scholarship totals offered to the five previous VBCPS graduating classes include: $87.4 million to the Class of 2017, $76.8 million to the Class of 2016, and $70.3 million to the Class of 2015, $42.5 million to the Class of 2014, and $32.6 million to the Class of 2013.

"Earning more than $100 million in scholarships for higher education is an incredible achievement for our graduating seniors, and we join their families in being extremely proud of their accomplishments," said Dr. Aaron Spence, VBCPS superintendent. "We are thrilled to see the Class of 2018 rewarded for their demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics and activities, and we know they will continue that commitment to success in their post-graduate studies and future endeavors."
