Division launches new VBSchools mobile app |
Beginning today, families and staff members can access all they need to know about Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) right from the palm of their hands. The division launched a new, free mobile app designed to keep the community informed on division events as well as help keep families up-to-date with their child's school accounts and activities. The VBSchools app provides easy access to school calendars, lunch menus, directories, events, maps, sports schedules and also pushes notifications directly to users with breaking school division news. In addition, users have the ability to fully customize the app by following selected schools to receive only their updates and news throughout the school year. Through the VBSchools app, families will have direct access to the variety of accounts and apps used for various services provided by the division. This would include the SchoolCafe app (where parents can pay lunch balances or add funds to accounts) as well as the ParentVue app (where parents can see their children's grades and progress on assignments). An additional highlight of the VBSchools app is the Report It function. Report It allows users to provide anonymous tips, which will be sent directly to the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers. These tips can be on any potential issue for the division, from building maintenance needs to reporting social media threats against a school. Users can submit photo and video attachments along with their tip, and all submissions are vetted by the Crime Solvers team in partnership with the division's Office of Safety and Loss Control. Also in the app, users can connect straight with all the division' news sources and campaigns, including the We Are VBSchools: Great Dreams Need Great Teachers staff appreciation campaign; the community blog, The Core; and the division' social media channels, including its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account. To download the app, search "VBSchools" in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. |
