New VBCPS employment initiative welcomes retirees |
Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) is beginning a new Retiree Opportunity Program (ROP), an initiative that encourages and supports retired staff members to find part-time employment and volunteer opportunities within the division. "We have so many talented, knowledgeable retirees from Virginia Beach City Public Schools, whose priceless experience can continue to benefit our students and overall mission. No matter what their previous position was they have a passion for children and education, and that doesn't go away after retirement," said John Mirra, chief human resources officer. "Through this program, we are creating a win-win opportunity by supporting the ongoing needs of schools and offices while also providing rewarding and flexible part-time employment opportunities for our retirees." Retirees interested in employment must complete an application through vbschools.com. Once an application is completed, the retiree can apply for posted positions. In addition to the complete listing of employment and volunteer opportunities, registering for the ROP allows retirees access to the division's rich retirement network resources, license renewal assistance, professional development and more. For more information about the Retiree Opportunity Program visit vbschools.com and the Jobs at VBSchools Facebook page. For additional information, contact the Department of Human Resources at 263-1133 or by email. |
