VBCPS awarded Virginia Values Veterans certification |
Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has received certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia's Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program, joining more than 700 Virginia businesses and organizations recognized for their commitment to valuing and hiring veterans. "Virginia Beach City Public Schools honors the contributions of veterans and their service to our country," said John Mirra, chief human resources officer. "Veterans have demonstrated commitment, discipline and professionalism throughout their years of service and make wonderful employees. Our staff and our students benefit from their skills, experience and work ethic." Sponsored by the Governor of Virginia, V3 is an official Commonwealth of Virginia program operated by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. It helps employers implement nationally-recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring and retaining highly skilled and dependable veterans. Certification lasts for five years. VBCPS offers competitive pay and benefits that can leverage the unique skills and expertise veterans hone during military service, Mirra explained. "We know veterans often have transferable skills that allow them to thrive in various fields. Many of them have the leadership skills and the capabilities to be phenomenal teachers," he added. "It's an opportunity to serve again." Job seekers interested in finding a career with VBCPS can learn more at vbschools.com. For more information about the V3 program, visit their website. |
