Partnership Expo celebrates collaboration between VBCPS and community

The Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) Office of Community Engagement will host the 2019 VBCPS Partnership Expo and PTA Vendor Fair Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Landstown High School.

The expo is free and open to the public and will feature representatives from more than 100 school division partnerships, including local businesses and non-profit, faith-based, military, civic or educational organizations. These groups work with schools each day to design innovative, mutually beneficial educational opportunities to meet the unique needs of students and schools.

"The partnerships our schools share with local businesses represent an important link between what occurs in our schools every day and the relevant, real-life experiences that will be available to them in the future," said Dr. Amber Rach, director of community engagement. "The expo is a valuable time for our community to learn more about the extensive resources and opportunities that impact students' lives in a meaningful way."

Attendees can visit exhibits, enjoy give-away items and printed information from community partners and speak with representatives from organizations and schools about community involvement, volunteer opportunities, summer employment and internships. They can also learn about new ways to connect real-world learning to the classroom as well as how to become a Partner in Education with the division.
