Wellness Expo helps connect Virginia Beach families to valuable resources

It’s the ultimate get-well, be-well experience! Virginia Beach City Public Schools is hosting a first-of-its-kind event to connect families with local resources for wellness, family engagement and student support. Join VBCPS in an engaging expo with families, community organizations and other local agencies that play an important role in promoting student wellness.

What: Family and Student Wellness Expo
Who: VBCPS Families
When: Noon-3 p.m. Saturday, June 3
Where: Bayside High School, 4960 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach
Info: Free and open to the public

This event will provide fun and healthy opportunities for all, including vision screenings, a vaccine clinic, the VBCPS Scratch food truck, the Green Run High School Drumline and inflatables for the kids! There will be two information sessions every hour. Learn about mental health, summer programs, VBCPS International Welcome Center resources, and more!

More than 50 exhibitors will share financial, health/wellness, social, intellectual and educational resources.

Understanding that students have been through some extraordinarily challenging circumstances in the past three years, VBCPS is working with parents and caregivers to provide needed support for our students and staff and help them navigate obstacles and develop self-care practices.

“Our role as a school division is to provide a nurturing space where students can learn and grow,” said VBCPS Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence. “Partnerships with parents and organizations across our city are vital to ensuring we are successful in that, which is why we anticipate a good turnout at this event.”

For more information, contact the Office of Student Support Services at 757-263-6984.

Vaccine clinic information: The Virginia Beach Health Department will be conducting the clinic from noon to 3 pm. Vaccines needed for entry to seventh and 12th grades will be available. For students to receive a vaccine, their parent must be present and present a copy of the immunization record.
